The Secretary to the State Government, Honourable Teslim Igbalaye, reassured the people of Governor Ademola Adeleke's commitment to fulfilling his electoral promises and putting Osun State back on track.

Honourable Igbalaye gave the reassurance at the third annual colloquium and end-of-year party organized by Osun Intercontinental Club, where he was honoured with an Award of Excellence.

Commitment to the five-point agenda

Speaking shortly after receiving the award, Honourable Igbalaye reiterated the commitment of the present administration in the state, led by Governor Ademola Adeleke, toward repositioning every strata of the state for the realization of the dreams of the founding fathers.

He said the administration would not derail from its five-point agenda, which includes welfare of workers and pensioners, boosting the state's economy, home-grown infrastructure policy, people-focused policy on education, affordable health care, security and social welfare, as well as industrialization for wealth and job creation.

Papers and presentations

In their various presentations, the resource persons included Dr. Femi Oke, who delivered a paper on family as an agent of socialization. He placed the moral decadence pervading society on the failure of parents in various homes.

Comrade Olusegun Lana spoke on the topic 'Lest we become a failed State: Arresting identifiable tendencies to State Failure', maintaining that tackling corruption and distributive injustice can solve Nigeria's problems. He advised the Osun State Government to build on the potential of the state through wealth creation by identifying raw materials and ensuring that processing industries are sited in the state.

Professor Benjamin Egunranti delivered a paper on depression as a state of mental health, sensitizing people to symptoms such as loss of sleep, hopelessness, hallucinations, body pains, and memory loss, among other causes of depressive disorder.

Welcome address

Earlier in his address of welcome, President of Osun Intercontinental Club, Alhaji Abiola Abioye, noted that membership of the group cuts across various fields of human endeavour irrespective of religion and political affiliation, with the common vision of changing the narrative on how the state and the entire country is governed.

Other award recipients at the event included Professor Benjamin Egunranti, Dr. Waheed Ewuola, and Alhaji Mohammed Olomola, among others.
